My Ohio friends decided to take a week vacation and visit California. I joined them in Santa Monica and we began our jam-packed epic road trip to see as much of California as humanly possible the next 5 days. With very limited sleep and over 1200 miles driven, we visited Joshua Tree National Park, Paso Robles, drove up Highway 1 to Big Sur, Carmel, and Monterey, Healdsburg, Armstrong Woods, the Sonoma Coast, and chartered a fishing boat in San Francisco.

One of the coolest places we stayed was in a yurt on a song bird reserve on the Carmel River.
