Guatemala and Goodbyes

As I sit here in the Miami airport on the last day of my internship I’m wondering, “How the heck it’s July 1st already??!  Didn’t I just start?”

I am very sad to leave and will be counting down the days until I go to the Miss Universe pageant in Brazil.  I miss my MUO family already.

I’m on my way back from Guatemala where we worked with PASMO and USAID and promoted HIV/AIDS awareness and non-discrimination along with launching a website for information about living with HIV: yahoraque.info.  We did everything from visit a brothel and talk with sex workers to visiting a home for abused girls to talking with transgender people about the stigmas they have to face in everyday life to taking an HIV test.  It was another great organization and another great trip with Miss Universe.

Taking care of Miss Universe Security in Guatemala:

I have had the best 6 months of my life and am very thankful for all the opportunities and travels I’ve had over the course of my internship and possibly having the best co-workers and title-holders of all time.

I can’t wait to come back.
